Education Technology Insights has named Dendritic Health AI, the company behind Neural Consult, to its Top AI-Powered Medical Education Tools 2026 list. Here is what the recognition covers, what the profile actually says, and why we think it matters less than what you do with the platform.

What the recognition is

Education Technology Insights is a trade publication that covers the companies building software for schools, universities, and professional training. Each year its editors publish a set of “Top” lists across categories, based on editorial review of the companies in each space. For 2026, Dendritic Health AI was selected for the Top AI-Powered Medical Education Tools list, and the publication ran a profile of the company under the headline “A Connected Learning Platform for Modern Medical Training.”

We want to be plain about what that is and is not. It is an editorial recognition from a publication that follows the education-technology market closely, and we are glad to have it. It is not a clinical trial, a peer-reviewed study, or a guarantee about your exam score. The evidence we would point you to on those questions lives elsewhere — in our blinded question-quality study, in the platform’s results on the published USMLE sample sets, and in the independent literature on AI study tools that we have written about honestly, including where it is thin.

What the profile says

The Education Technology Insights piece is built around interviews with our co-founders, CEO Alan Soetikno and co-founder and COO Jonathan Theros, and it lands on the idea that has driven the product from the start: medical education is fragmented across lectures, flashcards, question banks, and clinical encounters, and none of those pieces talk to each other. As Jon put it in the profile, “We knew the problems in medical education firsthand. AI could connect the entire learning process, from the first lecture to actually talking to a patient and make it more personalized and immersive for every student.”

The article walks through the platform’s core pieces — on-demand flashcard generation from your own lectures, cited literature search, OSCE-style simulation with AI patient encounters, and personalized feedback that follows you across the whole arc of training — and notes that the platform was, at the time of the interview, used by more than 60,000 students (the figure has since passed 75,000) and is expanding beyond MD/DO and PA programs into nursing, pharmacy, dental, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology education.

The line we would most want a skeptical reader to notice is this one, from Alan: “Medical schools provide access to experts and real patients and that curriculum will always be the core. What we want to add is precision education.” That is the position we take in every comparison post on this blog. Neural Consult is not built to replace your program, your question bank, or your preceptors. It is built to be the AI layer that does the things those were never designed to do — turn your specific lectures into practice, generate unlimited board-style items on the exact topic you keep missing, and let you rehearse a patient encounter out loud and get scored on it. On that last point the profile quotes Alan again: “Even doctors treat patients and never find out how they did. We can simulate that feedback instantly and students can iterate on it.”

Why we think it matters — and why it matters less than you’d think

Recognition from a publication that watches this market is useful for one reason: it is a signal to programs and students who have not heard of us that the platform is worth a look. Deans and curriculum committees evaluating AI tools for their institutions read this kind of coverage, and being on the list makes those first conversations easier. That is a real benefit and we will not pretend otherwise.

What it does not do is change what the platform is. The Question Generator either produces items you would rather practice on than not; in a blinded evaluation, AI-generated questions were rated equal or superior to NBME items overall, and their explanations scored 4.4 versus 3.5 for the NBME comparison set (p<0.001). The AI Lecture Notebook either understands your uploaded lectures or it does not. The Case Simulator either gives you feedback you can act on or it does not. Those are the tests that matter, and they are ones you can run yourself in an afternoon.

So our honest recommendation is the same one we give at the end of every post that compares us to UWorld, Anki, or Osmosis: keep the tools that work for you, and add Neural Consult where it fills a gap those tools were not built for.
